FOUNDATION:
HOW I WORK
At the centre of my work is a simple belief: creativity is one of the most honest ways we make sense of being human.
I create spaces where art becomes a way to notice what's present, to explore your inner experience with care, and to sit with complexity without rushing to fix it. The creative process offers a practical way to see more clearly, shift perspective, and make meaningful change.
My approach is holistic and ethically grounded. It honours emotional life without overwhelming it. I work with you to develop greater clarity about yourself, more choice in how you respond, and more compassion for what you're navigating.
Each creative journey is an opportunity to step outside familiar patterns and act more intentionally. This work is rooted in respect for difference, shared humanity, and professional integrity. I meet you as a whole person, capable of insight, growth, and responsibility for your own life and your place in the world.
The aim isn't transformation for its own sake. It's the ability to live and work with more presence, to make sense of what you're experiencing, and to move through it with care.

Cāyu (चायु).—[adjective] showing awe or respect.
The Sanskrit word "Cāyu" is pronounced like this:
Cā: The "C" here is pronounced like the "ch" in "church." The "ā" is a long "a" sound, similar to the "a" in "car" but held slightly longer.
yu: This is pronounced like the "yu" in "yule."
Putting it together, "Cāyu" would be pronounced "chAA-yu" with the "AA" indicating the longer "a" sound.

WHAT IS TRANSPERSONAL ART THERAPY?
Transpersonal Art Therapy is a form of creative therapy that works with the psychological, emotional, and existential dimensions of human experience, including moments that feel larger than the individual self.
It draws from transpersonal psychology, a field that emerged in the 1960s to expand psychology beyond behaviour and cognition, to include questions of meaning, consciousness, and inner life. The work explores how people relate to identity, purpose, and change, particularly during periods of transition or uncertainty.
In practice, sessions combine reflective work with creative process. Art making becomes a way to notice inner experience, explore symbolic material, and gain perspective without relying only on words or analysis. The focus isn't on artistic skill, but on using image, metaphor, and creative reflection as tools for insight.
Creative work allows access to material that can be difficult to put into language. Symbols, shapes, and images often surface emotional and psychological themes in ways that feel contained and workable. This supports awareness and a more flexible relationship to inner experience.
This approach supports grounded self-understanding, nervous system regulation, and clearer action. People often develop greater emotional clarity and a steadier sense of what matters as they learn to navigate challenges with more choice about how they respond.

1:1 SESSIONS
Transpersonal Art Therapy is a form of creative therapy that works with emotional, psychological, and meaning-making aspects of human experience, including periods of transition or uncertainty.
Sessions use creative process and reflection to explore what's happening beneath the surface. Art making offers a way to work with inner experience, symbol, and insight without relying solely on words or analysis. No artistic skill is required.
Images and visual expression often allow themes to emerge that are difficult to put into language. This supports clarity and a more flexible relationship to thoughts and emotions, and helps regulate the nervous system.
The work is grounded and ethically held. Clients often develop greater emotional literacy and a steadier sense of what matters as they learn to navigate challenges with more awareness and choice.
GROUP SESSIONS & WORKSHOPS
Group art therapy sessions and workshops offer a structured space to explore inner experience alongside others, through guided creative process and reflection.
Themes vary and may include self-reflection, life transitions, creative blocks, stress, or working with symbolic material such as dreams. Sessions combine reflective practice with art making to support awareness, perspective, and meaningful insight.
No artistic skill is required, and you share only what feels right for you.
The focus is on building clarity, emotional literacy, and the capacity to navigate challenges more effectively.
Group work offers the added benefit of witnessing and being witnessed, which can help normalize difficult experiences while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
Upcoming group offerings and workshops are shared through the Cāyu newsletter.
1:1 ONLINE SESSIONS
Online one-to-one art therapy sessions offer a flexible and accessible way to work together from anywhere.
Sessions are held via Zoom and follow the same approach as in-person work.
Creative process and guided reflection are used to explore inner experience and develop clarity in a focused, confidential space.
No artistic skill is required.
Online sessions work well for people who prefer the convenience of remote work or are unable to attend in person. The approach remains relational and grounded.
RETREAT OFFERINGS
Retreat-based work offers a focused, immersive space to step out of daily demands and engage more deeply with creative and reflective practice.
Sessions combine guided reflection with creative process to explore inner experience, shift perspective, and clarify what matters. The work is experiential and grounded, with an emphasis on awareness and considered action.
No artistic skill is required.
Creative process becomes a tool for exploration and insight. Retreat settings allow for depth, presence, and continuity in a professionally held environment.
These offerings are designed to support reflection, renewal, and intentional change.

NATURE IMMERSIONS - 1:1 SESSIONS AND WORKSHOPS IN NATURE
Nature immersion sessions are offered as one-to-one work or group workshops and take place in coastal or forest settings around Byron Bay on selected days.
These sessions use creative and reflective process within natural environments. Working outdoors supports sensory awareness, embodied presence, and a different quality of attention.
Nature immersions are professionally facilitated. Availability is limited and dependent on conditions. Please enquire for more information.
